Making an Impact on belly dancing today's world
How many dancers have wondered how to get well known in the world of belly dancing? Realistically, probably around the world!
I asked myself, and continued, almost blind because I had no idea what to do. When I look around me, even today I see many dancers starting like I did 23 years ago with the hope that maybe one day they will be teaching a workshop or show on a great show.
Training and practice is a huge task for most of us can consume most of our daily lives for years. We gained confidence to go do and have the experience and trial and error to learn to be artists. So what can we expect in the way?
Firstly most of the dancers work within your own community and established either in your city or state. I traveled around so I settled down as best I could in the different states I lived in.
(The Would have been easier with a magic wand, but none was available when I checked), so I knew I had a lot of hard work to do.
Every community that I lived in had its unique twist that may be carried in the belly dancing community let alone "character." The community "character" has told me much about the dancers ability to work with each other.
As a businesswoman I have to know what is happening in my community and in general belly dance "news." Being well informed has helped me understand the direction our dance world is decided. There are great events happening all over the West Coast to the East Coast. The one way to get to see and network with other dancers is to support workshops and performances in many as possible. Our world of dance in general, welcomes new talent, especially the unique talent. People are constantly looking for inspiration and the only way of finding talented dancers perform is to watch.
To be one of the dancers of inspiration: the constant training and will and unity of the best. Therefore, means the practice, even when you do not feel like practicing. Believe me I know all about this and I have even tried to argue with me same on occasion. At the end you see me play because I have not found sufficient grounds to keep me however, outside the studio. The more increases down the expectation of world dance. So this means that opening doors and opportunities abound expectations begin to rise higher. It's funny how most of the dancers starting out (myself included) do not even think about expectations. It's amazing how the pressure can be built each time a dancer on stage because once our community is saying a dancer who is good and she is the new inspiration, I will not be disappointed.
So now we are seeing what type of printing we do every time we perform. What happens when we have a bad night and for some reason or another we do our best? What impact does that make in our community? Well, I wondered about this and have found that most dancers are spared while others do not say anything to his face, but comments that are made out of the ear image. This is expected, once you get in the spotlight. Most dancers more efficient, which are well known may have a night off it would be a fantastic night for someone else. Most of us do not even know. So What I have come to understand is that once you are on your way to becoming a ballerina set the stakes are higher. And we want more high because this is the only way to know the dancers who work hard and that explain more about her dancing that dance. Our community wants the consistency of its dancers set which means walking his talk the way belly dancing.
If I meet a famous dancer, he or she will help me get known? Did you know in our community? Ok I have to say, is booty kiss? Sometimes people are well known and let's be honest, we wonder why. Not a question on the sly base of envy or jealousy, but a matter fact the question. What about "hidden treasures" that are out there. I've been called a "treasure hidden "and I'm smiling from ear to ear. But what has made me work harder, have to say no. So whose fault is that I am not better known? I write articles, teaching, practice and teach workshops. Guess what girls surprise, that's not enough. What I have not done is come out and support my community, attending more workshops. All we have to keep the economy afloat community. If you want people to see me and consider me for a workshop you have to know that I'm willing to support them. We build a dance community stronger by supporting workshops, because it is the best way to network and get out there and win more our community grows with new talent.
So here are the new talents and we want to make a DVD. An instructional DVD will make a difference in the way dancers see us? I made my first DVD a few years ago called "Hip Philosophy" and so far the dancers have given me two hips up. (I'm lucky and blessed!)
There are many instructional DVDs out there so this exposure is good or bad? The reason which I am asking this question is because I've had students who have bought an instructional DVD that some did not like. So what kind of responsibility have dance instructors have about your product? Let's face it, we all want to dance to like what we produce.
So when production of an instructional DVD make sure they are behind him. I guarantee my instructional DVD, because I think what it produces is worth. So when it comes to producing his instructional DVD to make sure that you are doing what they believe is the best possible instruction that recruitment for a workshop. The key point is to get teachers and event coordinators to hire you because of your product and your talent.
In almost all states that are great teachers and dancers. There is an old saying "No one can be a good teacher unless it is a good dancer and can not be a good dancer unless it is a good teacher." This pretty much says it all. Teaching and dancing go hand in hand. If you mix in networking, support your community and taking advantage of what the product could be on its way to become the new inspiration the belly dance world. And if not well not too much, because the road to success is based solely on how people receive, but how are you. Success begins from the inside so the final result is "Be your own success first.
