Why are so many foriegners offended by the notion that prositution in Thailand ….?
Is not limited to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, & Bangkok?
Someone posted a rather assinine comment about Bangkok being the sex capitol of the world. There were a couple equally assinine answers and a slew responses that were so misinformed I was appalled. Is it really not common knowledge that the Thai men have long standing traditions of going to brothels, and having minor wives and concubines? The fourth King in the Chakri Dynasty – when the capitol was in Ayutthaya- had a government office that housed and registed his concubines (believed to be well over 200). The fifth, and most revered King had more than a dozen wives and 40 kids. Anyway, is there anyone who has further/ more reliable info? I think many foriegners have the notion that prostitutes are only bar girls, and if they aren’t dancing around a chrome pole they are not for sale…..
lol @ 90% of the sex workers in Thailand service Thais. i never said Thais dont frequent these places …… i said its beyond ludicrious to state that 90% of the sex workers service Thais, not foriegners. i also didnt state that prostitution was limited to just Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket; i listed those 4 cities because they have BY FAR the highest number of prostitutes. logic would state that since Bangkok is far and away the largest city in Thailand and the 2nd largest city (Korat) has a non existant sex industry that at least 75% of the sex workers in Thailand are from one of those 4 cities. thats simply the law of averages. are you going to claim that most of the sex workers in these 4 cities service Thai nationals? after all, for your 90% of sex workers in Thailand claim to be true you would need an absolute monopoly in these 4 cities. just admit it, your 90% claim was not based on any type of facts other then your own uneducated opinion. there are sex workers in any Thai city that is frequented by tourists, thats economics 101, go to where the money is. the money is not however …. in small towns not frequented by tourists, as you claimed were “crawling” with prostitutes. name ONE, just ONE small city in Thailand that is not a tourist stop and is “crawling” with prostitutes. they dont exist. id also like to know how on Earth you consider minor wives and concubines as prostitutes. did Bringham Young have one wife and 20 prostitutes, or did he have 21 wives? way to warp the English language. minor wives are sex workers …. lol. Ayutthaya was the old capital of Thailand? wow, you really know your stuff, thanks for the history lesson. lol. before Ayutthaya it was Chiang Mai and before Chiang Mai it was Chiang Rai …. anything else ? hate to break the news to you, but the Chakri Dynasty started AFTER the fall of Ayutthaya when the capital was moved to Thonburi. you really know your stuff. lol. Ayutthaya fell in 1767, Mongkut (the 4th king of the Chakri Dynasty that you couldnt name) took control in 1851 ….. not exactly “when” Ayutthaya was the capital, only off by 84 years. Chulalongkorn was the 5th king of the Chakri Dynasty, since you couldnt seem to name him either.
your self serving question did nothing to support your “90% of the sex workers in Thailand service Thai nationals” claim, and further exposed you as somebody who really doesnt have a clue what hes talking about. lol @ the Chakri Dynasty when Ayutthaya was the capital.
